Expertise: Has coordinated the Natural Forestst Research programme of the
institute since 1997. Has undertaken several research activities and
projects in socioeconomics of forestry research and development. Has
done work on community participation in natural resource management and
the impact of natural resource conservation on community livelihoods
Has main interest in natural resources policy research. Has the aims of
linking research to development, especially the government and the
Professional/ Work Experience: Was a District Forestry Officer in the Kenya government for five years.
Worked in the Forest Department Headquartes as a Forest Economist for
three years and has been a Research Scintist with KEFRI for about ten
years. Has written and implemented several research and development
projects including ""Institutions and Community Participation in the
Management of Woodlands i East Africa"". This a project funded by the
Ford Foundation. Has Also written and managed a community based forest
restoration project funded by the Nissay Green Foundation of Japan.
Affiliation: Is affiliated to many organisations in Kenya and elsewhere.|National
