The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) is a non-profit independent, administratively and financially, research institution established in 1970 to provide means of utilizing available human and natural resources, and dedicating science and technology to the service of development, particularly in industrial fields. RSS developed its activities responding to the needs of development concentrating on three major areas, namely scientific and technological research and development, technical services and consultations and human resources development. It used technology and adapted it to meet the needs of development in Jordan, and it initiated different activities in the service of development.
RSS has the following technical centres: - Computer Technology Centre,
- Electronic Services and Training Centre,
- Mechanical Design and Technology Centre,
- Building Research Centre,
- Industrial Chemistry Centre,
- Renewable Energy Research Centre,
- Environmental Research Centre,
Short and long-term specialized technical training courses are conducted for Jordanians and Arab trainees. RSS is a regional training centre in computer technology, renewable energy, and others. RSS also established a university college (PSUCT) at the undergraduate level to teach computer technology and electronic engineering utilizing RSS infrastructure with hands-on training. RSS has many cooperation agreements with local institutions and a number of regional and international organizations in the fields of water, energy, environment, etc. |
