The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is a non-profit-making and non-governmental organization with headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a second principal campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. ILRI seeks to improve the well-being of people in developing countries by enhancing the diverse and essential contributions livestock make to smallholder farming. ILRI works in partnerships and alliances with other organizations, national and international, in livestock research, training and information.
ILRI’s focuses on three livestock-mediated pathways out of poverty:
securing the assets of the poor
improving the productivity of their livestock systems
improving their market opportunities.
