Foundation for the Higher Education and Development -Fedesarrollo- is a nonprofit policy research center based in Bogotá, Colombia. Fedesarrollo was created in 1970 in order to undertake reliable and independent public policy oriented technical studies. The focus of work at Fedesarrollo has been on applied economic research. The institution has traditionally given significant attention to issues related to macroeconomic management, through the publication of its quarterly report on the economic conditions in Colombia. Special importance has also been given to other topics, such as:
- fiscal and monetary policy
- commercial policy and trade integration
- labor reform
- regional development
- health
- education
- environment
All research done at Fedesarrollo is public. Research results are regularly presented through working papers, journal articles, books, and the media. Fedesarrollo organizes technical debates and discussions on the most prominent economic and social issues.
Fedesarrollo has a number of regular publications, including two journals Coyuntura Económica and Coyuntura Social and various other series, such as the Cuadernos de Fedesarrollo and the Working Papers Series. Some issues are available online.
It also publishes a biannual report on the macroeconomic prospects for the country. This publication, Prospectiva, is circulated among the business community.
