Research on Poverty Alleviation (REPOA) is a
non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Tanzania
concerned with matters relating to poverty and pro-poor growth. REPOA
undertakes and facilitates research, conducts and coordinates training,
and promotes dialogue and development of policy for pro-poor growth and
REPOA uses three systems for research:
Open Competitive System,(OCS): independent researchers submit proposals
for research to REPOA and request funding from REPOA to implement them.
Structured Research Programme (SRP): REPOA, working in partnership with
local or international institutions, develops research proposals and
The CSO Action Research Programme: Grassroots organizations submit research proposals on pre-identified themes to REPOA.

library is specialized, focusing on poverty and development issues. It
contains material relating to research methodology, local and
international research reports, journals, training material, workshop
papers, reports and publications by the government of Tanzania and
texts relating to specific topics such as economics, resource issues,
governance, children's rights, etc. Material is available in printed
and electronic format.
REPOA's library is free and open to all members of the public.
