Butterflies is a registered voluntary organization working with street and working children in Delhi since 1989. The organization is committed to a non-institutional approach, following the principles of democracy and promoting child participation in decision-making as part of its program planning, monitoring and evaluation.
Given Butterflies' belief in participation of children in all our activities, it is more appropriately called a "Program with Street and Working Children." Working to empower street and working children with skills and knowledge to protect their rights, the organization creates an enabling environment that will ultimately change street children into productive members of society.
Programs include education, health, saving schemes, a crisis center, children's media, and vocational training. Butterflies has a research and advocacy center focusing on child rights.
These include:
- nutritional status of street children
- child labor
- non-formal education
Butterflies has developed partnerships with national and international NGOs and agencies. The organization regularly publishes papers on children’s rights issues. Publication details, past and current events are available on the website. |
